6. Directions for a Triple Beam Balance  Make sure that the surface is level.  Put the riders at zero  Use the adjustment knob to make certain the pointer is at the zero line. Read the balance at EYE LEVEL  Place the object on the center of the pan  Start with the hundreds rider, moving it one notch at a time until the pointer drops below the zero line. Move the rider back one notch.  Move the tens rider one notch at a time until the pointer drops below the zero line. Move the rider back one notch.  Move the ones rider until the pointer is at zero line.
