1. From the history of Chernivtsi

2. In the 19th century Otto von Habsburg wrote that in our multinational town it was proved that different national and religious communities could achieve great success living and working together and could be led to a great common idea.

3. Looking at old pictures and modern photos of our town one can see Orthodox churches, Catholic Cathedrals, Jewish synagogues and churches of other religions.

11. Our town has always been known for its religious tolerance and friendship of cultures. The following words were written about Chernivtsi of the 18-19 centuries, “Chernivtsi was the ship of entertainment with the Ukrainian crew, German officers and Jewish passengers on board. This ship was making voyages between West and East under the Austrian flag.” There were five People’s Houses in the history of Chernivtsi. Most of them have remained till our days.

16. It is planned now to make it the People’s House of all the nationalities living in Bukowyna.
