I never liked Maura Shaw. She was just a grouchy old girl back then. She still is a grouchy girl. I really don't believe in the ‘Like mother, like daughter’ phrase. Maura is a heap of crabbiness; unlike her mother who is the happiest person that I ever knew, know and will ever know. 1

During the summer, I, Greg Kenton started drawing and selling my own comics. Maura and I were always competing; she was always coping me. My comics became really very popular in school, but then Maura jumps into the scene! She starts drawing her comics! My temper had gotten the worst out of me. 2

What I got in Math class one day, was a punch in the nose from Maura. Blood flooded the classroom, yes, blood, and Maura was apologizing, I mean: apologizing for punching me in the nose. I felt like punching her right back. I never knew that girls could punch so hard! 3

All of this selling business in school started like this: I discovered that almost every kid in school has an extra quarter or two to spend almost every day by forgetting my lunch (by accident) and having to buy school lunch with one of my classmate’s quarters. I multiplied a few quarters by a few kids and – POOF! - School looked like a giant piggy bank! I decided to sell little toys, candy and gum, but all of them were soon banned from school. 4

Comics saved the day for once! Comics were still considered books. You learn from books. So many connections between comics and school. The tiny flaw in the plan from the very beginning of this new business was that all of the teachers (including the principal) except Mr.Z weren’t permitting this wonderful idea of Greg. Greg didn’t give up; he didn’t want to lose and let Maura Shaw win. Greg kept fighting… 5

He never thought that Maura wanted to be friends with him. Business improved when Maura’s and Greg’s comics were put together. Greg showed Maura how to improve her drawing and how to make the Master copies and print her comic books instead of drawing one a few billion times. After being enemies all of their lives, they became great friends and earned a lot of money. Lunch Money. 6
