1. Today I’m going to teach you how PLACE VALUE works and how it will help you in mathematical sums.

2. Place value helps with large sums and if the sum has “0”s. If the sum does have 0’s in it and your doing addition or subtraction you take the whole numbers up a place value position or down a place value position. Place value can be used with Addition, Multiplication, Division and Subtraction.

4. .If I have 0.765 I say 765 Thousandths not zero point seven hundred and twenty five..If the number is below the decimal point always add the “ths” on the end of that houses name.

5. Place Value Partitioning or more commonly known as PVP is when you break the number into bits ex: 76x3 (70x3 or 7x3 then take it up one place value position to 70x3=210.) After multiply 6x3=18 then add 210+18=228.

6. Sometimes this strategy is not the most efficient or fastest ie: if I have a question like 298+354 it would be easier to round and compensate this sum, 300 + 354 = 654 – 2 = 652.
