2 PLACE Welcome to Guatemala, where everywhere you see is a happy face to greet you into your new surroundings! Guatemala is the Mayan word for "Land of Forests." This is the home to 15.47 people. Here, we are known for our endless foods; most made from handmade tortillas over a warm-lit fire. We have special celebrations such as Independence Day. On Independence day, women and daughters dress up in long, rainbow-colored dresses with random patterns sewed on. Men and sons wear striped, long shirts and sombreros. Our clothing protects us from the smoldering red sun. The Guatemalan children sing traditional songs. We listen to music such as marimba, folk, classical, and more! The most traditional song we sing is titled "Que Llueva, Que Llueva", which is Spanish for "Let it Rain, Let it Rain". In Guatemala, we practice the Catholic religion. We also sing traditional songs in church. The number one tourist attraction we have is the Tikal. The Tikal is the number one tourist attraction here. We hope you love our country and your stay. Enjoy!

3 LOCATION I thought on one day that I deserved a vacation so I decided to go to Guatemala. So I drove for a boring 2 ½ hours going to a airport. When I arrived to the airport I heard planes going off every 30secs so it was pretty loud there. So when I got there I had to get my passes and when I did I walked over to my plane that was taking me to Guatemala. So when we took of we were at a incline on are way up to the sky's. When we got up to the clouds it was so majestic. So then I fell asleep for the rest of the ride so when I woke up we where on the ground waiting to get parked. So when I got there I got my luggage and walked outside and it was so beautiful that it kind of looked like L.A. So when I walked around everyone was so dressed up when I was walking down town. I walked over to the Guatemalan flag and it was two blues stripes and a white stripe.

5 REGION Guatemala has lots of breath taking places for truism. Some places are their lushes mountains and lakes. Their mountains and lakes are some of the most beautiful things there. Sadly most of the mountains are far reach and diverse. Guatemala is divided into 22 departments each with a governor appointed by the president. They are independent councils whose officials are elected for two-year terms. In 2005 Guatemala had 29,200 active troops and 35,200 reservists. Guatemala was a founding member of the Central American Parliament. Guatemala is best divided into 5 regions. The regions are Caribbean Lowlands, Central Highlands, Pacific Slope, Petén,and Western Highlands. They all have different attractions to see for example the Pacific Slope is home to the La Democracia. The region called Petén makes up one-third of Guatemala even though it only has three percent of the population. The Western Highlands has the most culture offerings with high alpine lakes and beautiful mountains. Lake Izabal is located in the Caribbean Lowlands region. It is the largest, yet undeveloped, lake in Guatemala. Soon enough people will see Guatemala's true beauty and more and more people will soon populate the country.
