16 Example: Mutualistic relationships: Lichen is a mutualistic relationship between a fungus and a photosynthetic partner, usually green algae or cyanobacteria.

18 Example: Mutualistic relationships: Mycorrhizae are a symbiotic association between a fungus and the roots of a plant. The fungus gains carbohydrates, while the plant has access to more water and nutrients.
