2 Prosthesis: An appliance which replaces lost or congenitally missing tissue. Prosthetics: The art and science of supplying artificial replacement for missing parts of the human body. Prosthodontics: When applied to dentistry , the term prosthetics becomes prosthodontics.

3 Prosthodontics: Is the dental specialty that deals with the diagnosis,
treatment planning, rehabilitation and maintenance of the oral function, comfort, appearance and health of patient with clinical conditions associated with missing or deficient teeth and maxillofacial tissue using biocompatible substitutes.

8 Fixed Prosthodontics The branch of prosthodontics concerned with the replacement and restoration of teeth by artificial substitute that not readily removed from the mouth.

9 Full Veneers Crowns Artificial replacement that replaces the morphology, function and contour of the missing tooth structure by surrounding part or all of the remaining structure with a materials such as metals and porcelain. If it covers all of the clinical crown, it is a full veneer crown.

10 Partial Veneer Crown Partial veneer has been described as restoration covering two or more surfaces of a tooth.

11 Fixed Partial Denture A bridge which has also come to be widely known in recent years as fixed partial prosthetic appliance, permanently attached to remaining teeth, which replace a missing tooth or teeth.

A combination of materials such as metal and porcelain.

14 Parts of FPD Abutment tooth Abutment , tooth or portion of a tooth, or that portion of a dental implant that serves to support and retain prosthesis.

15 Parts of FPD Pontic Pontic is an artificial tooth on a fixed dental prosthesis that replaces a missing natural tooth, restores its function, and usually fills the space previously occupied by the clinical crown.

16 Parts of FPD Retainers Retainers are the part of a fixed dental prosthesis that are cemented to the prepared abutment tooth.

17 Parts of FPD 1 3 Connector Pontic 2 Reatainer 4 Abutment Connector is the portion of a fixed dental prosthesis that unites the retainer(s) and pontic.
