These are the original 13 colonies that were established by people from England. Directions: on you map label and create a key using your atlas in your book to make sure that you are labeling the correct states. You are going to make a key to compete this.

1776- U.S. declares Independence from Great Britain. The war lasted from 1787- The constitution was drafted. 1803- Louisiana Purchase provided the U.S. much of the land that formally belonged to the French.

Northerners were against the Annexation of Texas because it would be admitted as a slave state and would tip congressional power to the south. Southern states wanted it because….

Mexico attacks San Antonio despite having signed the Treaty of Velasco. Texans vote to be annexed in 1845. President John Tyler’s support and offer for the U.S. to pay off the republic’s large debt in exchange for giving its public lands to the government. The popular belief of Manifest Destiny. Texas became the 28th state in 1845.
