15 Day 1: Cold Read Read for enjoyment. Students' purpose for hearing the story is for simple enjoyment. Establish and state the essential questions for the week’s focus. 17 Day 2: Vocabulary The reading purpose is to discover unknown words. Prepare a list that you know are new to your students. Also encourage students to share additional words they are unsure about. Students are asked to infer, predict, explain, support, describe, and any other fancy reading verbs out there!
