3 WHAT IS ELP?  Environmental Leadership Program (ELP): ELP is a Voluntary (BEYOND REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS) partnership program with businesses, municipalities, non-governmental organizations, federal entities, schools and universities and community organizations designed to promote a cleaner and better environment for Louisiana. Any Louisiana entity that fits into one of the above categories and is committed to improving the quality of Louisiana’s environment is eligible to join.  ELP Award Categories include: Pollution Prevention (P2) Programs/Projects, Community Environmental Outreach and Environmental Ordinance.

4 2009-2010 Contribution of ELP Members to Pollution Prevention in Louisiana  Pollution Prevention  3,499,548 pounds (lbs) of pollutants were removed including: NO x emissions, Acrylamide, Nitrates, Solid Waste, Used Oil, etc.  Reduction in Energy Usage  172,034 kWh  Recycling of Materials  1,166,704 lbs/yr of E-waste  32,440 lbs of Household Hazardous Materials  Environmental Ordinance  City of Baton Rouge/East Baton Rouge Parish Litter Court

Pollutants include: NO x emissions, Acrylamide, Nitrates, Solid Waste, Used Oil, etc.

6 2009-2010 Contribution of ELP Members to Pollution Prevention in Louisiana Energy Reduction  ELP Member Amount  LSU-Facility Development 172,034 kWh Students formed nine competitive teams within residential halls to reduce energy use in the UNPLUG campaign.
