3 Standard b. Compare how the location, climate, and natural resources of Germany and Italy affect where people live and how they trade.

4 Teaching

5 Germany Germany is ranked as the fourth largest economy in the world.
This shows that Germany’s citizens are relatively wealthy compared to other countries around the world.

6 Germany Germany is bordered by several different countries
Because they are surrounded by land, they export several products around the world by railroad and by highways Because they export a lot by railroad and highways, Germany has an excellent highway and railway system.

7 Germany Germany is known for it’s mining industry.
One of their main natural resources are coal!

8 Germany Germany has a high population to work in factories. Because of this, they are able to make several different products and finished goods. The creating and selling of finished goods is called manufacturing.

9 Germany Germany has a small amount of coastline so they do not ship many goods by boat.

10 Germany Germany has a high amount of forests for lumber.

11 Italy Italy has a manufacturing based economy
This means that they make goods and sell them.

12 Italy Small farms cover the peninsula. On these farms they grow several different products including grapes and tomatoes.

13 Italy Italy is blocked in by the Alps Mountains to the north.
This makes it difficult to trade by land such as railroads and trucks.

14 Italy Italy has a lot of manufacturing.
This means that they make materials and finished goods to be sold.

15 Germany Vs. Italy It is easier for Italy to ship by sea because it is almost completely surrounded by the sea. A piece of land that juts out into the ocean, like Italy, is called and peninsula.

16 Germany Vs. Italy Germany can ship more by land because of it’s excellent highway and railroad system.

17 Germany vs. Italy Most of the population of both Germany and Italy live in cities.

18 Germany vs. Italy Climates are similar and different in many ways. Germany has a marine climate and Italy has a Mediterranean climate. Both countries have mountainous areas that are cold.

19 Germany vs. Italy Germany is known or it’s mining and manufacturing.

20 Germany Vs. Italy Italy is known for it’s farming and manufacturing
