This presentation brought to you by: Exhaust-ed Candle $8.99 Product Description A candle for car lovers, mechanics, and those that just love the smell of the fumes from an internal combustion engine. Enjoy the smell without the asphyxiation. http://stinkycandlecompany.com/product/ex-hausted-candle/

Overview of MACs MAC = Motorist Assistance Center 12 MACs located throughout Mass. Each MAC has an ASE L1 tech and CSR MAC Equipment: – Vehicle lift – Dyne – Workstations – Classroom – Diagnostic tools MAC Functions: – Training – Inspection Station Support – Readiness assistance – Kit Car inspections – Targeted Vehicle Inspections

What are we Targeting? Unusual OBD Results - tampering – All monitors Unsupported or Ready – Unsupported CAT, EVAP, or O2 – Unusual PID $1c results 04 = OBD I, 06 = EOBD – OBD VIN goes missing, PID Count drops Vehicles that were clean scanned Questionable PCM swaps

How do the Targeted Vehicles get to the MAC? Use a program web app to “flag” a VIN for a targeted inspection Next regular inspection, vehicle is automatically referred to MAC by workstation Vehicle gets regular inspection at station but automatically fails for emissions and refers motorist to MAC Vehicle cannot be re-inspected until MAC flag is cleared Motorist calls hotline to make appt. with MAC They call us, we don’t call them

What happens at the MAC? L1 looks over vehicle and documents any visual tampering L1 performs Diagnostic Inspection using IM program workstation Results end up on VID and become part of vehicle’s test history L1 may collect additional OBD data Pending codes, CAL ID, CVN, distance & trips since code clearing L1 talks to motorist and explains vehicle needs to return to stock before MAC “flag” gets lifted.
