4 Objectives 1.To generate awareness to our key audiences about the Center for Civic Engagement and Leadership’s goals and values by 15% during the entire six months of the plan. 1.To educate the existence of community based learning courses by 10% by September 2015. 1.To promote and stimulate interest and involvement in civic engagement and service learning by 10% during the entire six months of the plan.

5 Strategies 1.Create news momentum by executing a media relations campaign that targets local Poughkeepsie businesses and nonprofits. 1.Develop educational materials that explain and introduce what community based learning courses entail at Marist College. 1.Participate in targeted events and sponsorship opportunities throughout Poughkeepsie and the Marist College campus.

8 Key Messages Community partners 1.The Center for Civic Engagement and Leadership hopes to develop trustworthy and mutually beneficial relationships with its local community members. 1.The Center for Civic Engagement and Leadership aims to engage the community in service learning throughout the town and city of Poughkeepsie. 1.Partnering with the Center of Civic Engagement and Leadership is a valuable, learning experience and opportunity for both students and community participants.

9 Key Messages Marist Community Students 1.Community based learning incorporates exposure to critical social problems with engagement in the community and guided reflection, where students gain a deeper awareness of pressing social problems. 2.Enrolling in community based learning classes will present the opportunity to gain important leadership and work related skills to apply to their future careers. 3.The Center wants to inspire you to make a difference and effect a change in the community through service learning. Faculty 1.Becoming a Faculty Fellow will unify the teaching styles of professors to practice community based learning programs among various departments 2.The Faculty Fellow program trains and assists professors and provides accompanying resources and other materials in creating an interactive curriculum for course work in civic engagement. 3. As a Faculty Fellow you are encouraged to become an ambassador for the community based learning program in order to increase growth and continuation of community based learning courses.

10 Key Messages Media 1.The Center of Civic Engagement and Leadership is an organization run by Marist College that practices civic engagement by involving students with partnering with community organizations. 1.The Center for Civic Engagement’s values are providing excellence in education, establishing a sense of community, and continuing the tradition of service. 1.The Center is going to have a fundraiser kickball game on October 24, National Make a Difference Day, to help raise awareness and money for local community partners.
