Sensor Module v1.1

Step 1: Sand edges of PCB & drill bolt holes (3mm) Use small green power drill or pillar drill (as available) Goggles Use a piece of scrap wood under your PCB when drilling = bolt hole location Sand edges of PCB with sand paper Remove burr from holes by hand twisting an 8mm drill bit into each hole

Step 2: solder 100 Ω Resistors = 100 Ω resistor location BROWN BLACK BROWN GOLD

= header pin location Step 3: header pins Cut four pins off using a pair of side cutters Insert the short side of the pin into the PCB holes and solder Long side sticking up vertically sidecutters

= LDR location Step 4: LDR’s Don’t push the LDR’s flat to the PCB Leave 6mm of leg on the component side of the PCB so that the height of the component is near to the top of its nearby LED Add 6mm of heatshrink to each leg before your push in & solder to get the distance right L.D.R. Heatshrink

= L.E.D. location Step 5: LED’s Use clear high intensity “white light” LED’s Make sure the cathode (negative pin) is nearest to the header pins 6mm BOARD OFFSET (**check**) Remember: the long leg on a L.E.D. is the positive one (Anode) The side of the body with the flat on it is negative (Cathode)

= Black tape location Step 6: Tape L.D.R./L.E.D. Pairs Wind a 60mm piece of black insulating tape around each LDR/LED pair Make sure: No light can escape from the bottom The LDR and LED can both see out

Step 7: Quality Checking What have you done to check the quality of your build? How have you checked the quality of your build? Write a set of bullet points on what you have checked how you have done it What equipment you have used ** submit via ShowbieShowbie ** Remember: your eyes & the process of visual inspection are one of the best tools you have for checking build quality, but what have you checked?
