1 Shelter in Place Drill November 4th, 2015 from 10:30 to 10:45 a.m. Southwestern Community College District SWC “We know Safety”

2 Sheltering in Place reduces the risk of injury or danger to faculty, staff, students and visitors.

3 Sheltering in Place would be implemented when requested by College Police, law enforcement, fire department or the Campus Administration. However, at times, it may be the decision of the individual to Shelter in Place oneself if there is a clear presence of imamate danger. In addition, it may be necessary to close the campus.

4 Dangerous persons, Persons armed with firearms or weapons, Gunshots directed at or nearby campus, Hazardous materials, conditions or disasters.

5 Secure all doors Block entrances Create barricades Close windows Turn off lights

6 Crouch down in areas out of sight from doors and windows to conceal yourself as much as possible. Place all cell phones on vibrate. Refrain from using cell phones. Assist persons with disabilities.

7 When you get an Emergency Alert, do these five things; *ACT, when you get the alert, *SEEK, get to a place of cover or concealment, *SECURE, secure your location as best as possible *PREPARE, get into survival mode and prepare to act if necessary, *HELP, render aid, assistance and leadership if safe to do so. - If outside, help others to find shelter.
