Create additional capacity to provide key workers to co-ordinate the assessment process and write EHCPs. Consolidate the role of ‘key worker’ into a single post. Retain educational and social care expertise within the teams. Contribute to an improved experience for children and their families. To have a structure common to all SEND teams. To enable the delivery of efficiencies made by savings against previous VR decisions

Consider AP role if it was to include supervision. Assimilation should be available to all social workers in CWD teams. CWD social workers cannot progress from newly qualified scale without moving to different teams

Key workers consistently referred to the desire to continue direct work with families. Lead Education Officer role was unclear. Risk the LEO would be overwhelmed in the early stages of the transition. Barrow and South Lakeland have split site issues.

New profile for ‘Lead Care Officer’. Opportunities for progression NQSW to 5. Revised implementation timescale – evolution not revolution.

First step to offer all NQSW grades an opportunity to interview for a Grade 5 post. Final grades will then be added to the structure and assimilation will take place.

11 Serving the people of Cumbria Do not use fonts other than Arial for your presentations Assimilation & Outcomes Current Assimilation Policy relating to the grade match criteria challenged by GMB (not Unison) and is now subject to formal dispute process. Corporate discussions are ongoing Current assimilation process will compare old and new roles to determine where direct appointments can be made Current Policy states Roles must be same grade and 75% match / substantially similar against each assimilation criteria. Where it is identified that there are more people than posts, a competitive interview process will take place Employees not assimilated to posts confirmed as ‘at risk’ of redundancy and are able to apply for vacant posts through the vacancy preference process
