New AP Policies for Spring 2016

Topics  Daily Work and Late Work  Quiz Drop  Test Corrections  Unit Vocabulary  Cornell Notes

Daily Work and Late Work  10 point penalty for late assignments  Exception: Projects, Group Presentations, Time-sensitive assignments can receive greater penalties based on the specific situation  Definition of late: 1 second late is late. All assignments are due when the bell rings to start class unless otherwise stated.  DUE DATE: Second to last Friday of grading period…NO late work accepted during last week of grading period.  Any daily assignment that earns below a 50 needs to be fixed and turned in again.  This grade will be treated like any other late grade….late penalty of 10 points.  This will be important for the quiz drop and test corrections….

Quiz Drop  1 Quiz Drop per 9 Weeks  Requirements:  NO Late assignments  No assignments less than a 50.

Test Corrections  Staying the same:  One week (5 school days) after the grade posts to Skyward  Get up to half of your points back  Open to everyone regardless of grade  Changes:  No corrections until all missing work is turned in  No corrections if any daily grade is less than 50  No corrections done until your review is complete.  You’ll be given a “concepts missed” list  You must bring in a paragraph (4 sentences) of information on EACH concept to be allowed to correct that question. EX: Missing 10 questions would require 10 separate paragraphs.  This puts more work on you AND improves your score.

Differentiated Assignment  Homework Assignments:  The 1 st semester exam is being used as a diagnostic exam to determine readiness up to this point for the AP Exam in May.  Some students who scored exceptionally well will be given the opportunity for differentiated homework assignments. These accommodations will remain in place as long as performance on tests and quizzes remains high.  Students who scored below the acceptable threshold will be required to attend tutorial sessions (a calendar of these sessions is still under construction) These sessions will be held before or after school in either Mrs. Kelley’s or Mr. Stanley’s classrooms and should go no longer than 30 minutes.  Students who scored below the expected threshold will have their homework reviewed more closely.

Vocabulary  Daily Grade  Vocab due on test day unless otherwise stated  Must use the vocab template sheets that can be found on the class website

Cornell Notes  Daily grade  Notes due on test day unless otherwise stated  Must use the Cornell Notes template which can be found on the class website  For now, Notes assignments will ONLY be over specific, assigned sections NOT over every section that we cover.
