18. Evolution Who is Charles Darwin? Charles Darwin is the father of evolution. He traveled to the Galapagos Island on a ship called the Beagle. He wrote the book, On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection.

Natural selection is the process in which the best suited organisms will survive, reproduce, and pass their traits to their offspring. Organisms not suited will not survive and reproduce. Natural selection acts on phenotype not the genotype of an organism.
