1 THE INFLUENCE OF MOTIVATION THROUGH OUTDOOR LEARNING ON STUDENTS’ PERFORMANCE IN DESCRIPTIVE WRITING (QUALITATIVE) EVELYN PHILIP P71448

2 JUSTIFICATION OF TOPIC CHOSEN - The reason this topic is chosen are:- - To help uplift students’ motivation towards learning the second language through outdoor learning. - To help second language teachers and instructors to view a different perspective of teaching the second language so that teachers and instructors could gain students interest towards learning the second language. - To help broaden teachers and instructors knowledge on the methods being used to teach the second language.

3 STATEMENT OF PROBLEM -Students’ motivation is depicted as low due to the teaching method in the classroom (Hiew 2012) which is in a confinement of the four walls and this makes students to feel bored and not motivated to learn the lessons as there is no variety in the classroom. - Besides, the teaching process in second language is also mundane as teachers are not interactive and enthusiastic in teaching as the main focus of teachers nowadays is to get over and done with the teaching hours without making meaning out of their lessons.According to Kether (n.d.) state that teachers need to vary their teaching methods and never stick to one as this would motivate students to learn. -In addition, traditional teaching methods that are commonly used in educational institutions are tedious (Boumova,2008).This is because teachers are said to have power and control in the classroom which makes students to be afraid of teachers thus making them to not ask questions in the classroom (Sherrington,2014) as compared to learning in the outdoors where students have more freedom to themselves (Council for Learning Outside the Classroom,2010).

4 RESEARCH PURPOSE: To see how motivation could influence learning outdoors towards students’ performance in descriptive writing.
