2. © 2009 IBM Corporation e-config Training – Module 1 This is the first module in a series of modules that are being developed to help our IBM and Business Partner sales teams learn about the basic workings of the IBM Configurator for e- business, also called e-config. This module is designed to help you better understand how to install and update e-config. There is also a section on “Finding Help”. The following modules will be more technical in nature and will show the user how to configure some of the server/software/services products and solutions. 2

5. © 2009 IBM Corporation e-config Training – Install/Update Initial Install  Installing/Updating e- config –e-config is installed and maintained using the e-padm installation utility e-padm is available on CRM WorkSmart (IBM), PartnerWorld or PartnerCommerce/Servers (see access instructions under Initial Install) –User’s should subscribe to receive email updates on new code releases and urgent items –If running XP, you need to have administrative rights in able to install e-config. 5

6. © 2009 IBM Corporation e-config Training – Install/Update Install the prerequisites  Install the prerequisites –You first need to ensure you have Java™ Runtime Environment (JRE) installed, if not you can go to the Sun website –Next install the MS Java Virtual Machine (JVM), the files can be found on the JVM Download page –Next, if running Windows Vista, you need to install the run_epadm.exe utility –Lastly, install the e-padm security program, epadmpre.exe 6

9. © 2009 IBM Corporation e-config Training – Install/Update Install the application code, model(s) and price files  Install the application code, model(s) and price files –Make sure you understand the use of the “switch” on the e-padm menus, see highlighting to the right –On your initial install, you must select your price files by opening the switches –After the install is finished, and e-padm says “Done!” restart your PC  e-config is now ready to use –On your desktop you will find a plain econfig folder, inside you will find the eConfig icon used to start e-config 9
