1 Introduction to the Grant August-September, 2012 Facilitated/Presented by: The Illinois RtI Network is a State Personnel Development Grant (SPDG) project of the Illinois State Board of Education. All funding (100%) is from federal sources. The contents of this presentation were developed under a grant from the U.S. Department of Education, #H325A100005-12. 5 Mission of I-RtI Network To improve the learning and performance of all students by building the capacity of schools to develop, use, and sustain a multi-tiered system of research-based instruction, curricula, intervention, and assessment by providing professional development through training, technical assistance, and coaching.

6 Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) ALL children can learn Prevention and early intervention Multi-tiered model of service delivery Problem solving method and Effective Teaming Scientific, research based curricula and instruction/ intervention Ongoing progress monitoring Data-based decision making Assessment is for three different purposes (i.e., screening, diagnostics, progress monitoring)

9 To Accomplish the Mission: I-RtI Network Staff are focused on: 1.Partnering with District Leadership Teams to implement effective MTSS/RtI practices within school buildings across the district. 2.Partnering with External Coaches to work with participating Network schools and staff to implement effective MTSS/RtI practices.

13 Role of External and Internal Coaches External Build capacity at the district level, and potentially, across districts. Provide support to Internal Coaches to develop skills and capacity in their role. May be filled by district level staff or from another educational agency. Communication link between schools within district and regionally. Internal Build capacity within school building. Provide support to other staff at the building level to develop skills and capacity. May be filled by more than one person, with a “Lead” coach to ensure tasks are completed. Communication link within building and from building to district.
