1 Covenant between the Kingdom of Spain and the UNESCO World Heritage Centre: The Spanish Funds in Trust Fondos Extra-Presupuestarios Españoles

2 The Spanish Funds in Trust, an agreement between Spain and the UNESCO World Heritage Centre, in place since the 28 April 2002, aims to enhance the implementation of the World Heritage Convention in Latin America and Caribbean, Africa, Arab States and in the Pacific Region. The Spanish Funds in Trust has contributed accordingly: 2003: 300.510€ 2004: 300.510€ 2005: 600.000€ 2006: 600.000€

3 1. The transnational feasible nomination of the Main Andean Road, Qhapaq Ñan to the World Heritage List. KEY SFIT PROJECTS : Meetings organized: Paris, France, 29 January 2003. Lima, Peru, 1-2 April 2003. Cusco, Peru on 24-26 October 2003. La Paz, Bolivia 4-7 April 2004. Santiago, Chile 6-11 October 2004. Quito, Ecuador 9-13 April 2005. Buenos Aires, Argentina 12-14 December 2005. Also two Scientific Committees and a Juridical Committee have been organized.

4 2. Preparatory Assistance has been provided to the following countries: Granada and the Nicaragua Lake, Nicaragua. Honduras, Tentative List. Palau, Tentative List. Chile, Spanish Fortifications in the Pacific. Sudan, nomination file for the inscription of the Island of Meroe. Cameroun, nomination file for the inscription of the Lobé waterfalls. Coro-La Vela, Venezuela.

Rock Art International Seminar on Archaeological Sites of the Caribbean likely to be considered for inscription on the World Heritage List – UNESCO World Heritage Centre, Fort-de-France, (Martinique) 20 -23 September 2004 First Expert Meeting on Rock Art in the Caribbean and the UNESCO World Heritage List For a feasible transnational nomination of Amerindian Rock Art to the World Heritage List Basse Terre (Guadeloupe) 3 – 6 May 2006
