CLASS II DIVISION II 48 YEAR OLD FEMALE At 1 month and 11 days the lower was bonded and the VECTOR III® Interactive Springs were adjusted. VECTOR III® Classics Wires™ Flat Standard Series were inserted on the upper. At the same time headplate, panorex and intraoral x-rays were taken along with photos. Note how the bite has opened. 2 As the vertical dimension opens the horizontal interferences are reduced and the mandible tends to come forward and shift. Note the midline correction. This was all done without headgear, elastics or Class II mechanics. CLASS II DIVISION II 48 YEAR OLD FEMALE

This view shows some of the adjustments made on the VECTOR III® Springs to torque the teeth into position.

CLASS II DIVISION II 48 YEAR OLD FEMALE AT 1 MONTH 25 DAYS VECTOR III® CLASSICS WIRES WERE PUT IN. The upper Standard wire was replaced with a Flat Upper Plus Series wire. The lower Nitinol wire was replaced with a Flat Lower Standard Series wire. In addition to the wires Class II light 3/16” elastics were started temporarily on the upper 3│3 to the lower 5 │5 and continued for 3 weeks.

TO REVIEW; 1.When using VECTOR III® Interactive Springs™, DO NOT TIE MALPOSED teeth to the arch wire. 2.Make sure the springs are adjusted for patient comfort. 3.Use Nitinol wire until the VECTOR III® Springs are removed. 4.Using VECTOR III® Classics Wires™ after the springs are removed will tend to give the patient the correct arch shape and will reduce treatment time.

Bio-mechanics vs. Bio\Analytic Mechanics™ RESULTS USING BIO\ANALYTIC™ MECHANICS + VECTORLOY™ WIRE Forces in VECTOR III® torquing spring ON THE CROWN: DISTAL ROTATION FORCE FORCE TO LABIAL INTRUSION FORCE ON THE ROOT: DISTAL ROTATION FORCE FORCE TO LINGUAL INTRUSION FORCE

 Tooth length is 27 MM  Anatomic center of the tooth is 13.5 MM from root tip to the incisal edge  Starting center of rotation is 12.8 MM from incisal edge  Progress center of rotation is 14.5 MM from incisal edge  1.7MM center of rotation moved during “torque type movement”  Bracket slot moved to the labial 5.5 MM  Root tip moved 7.5 MM to the lingual  Crown tip moved 7.4 MM to the labial  Extrude (down) root 3MM  Extrude (down) crown 1 MM

RESULTS USING BIO-MECHANICS + TRADITIONAL WIRE RED: VERTICAL REFERENCE PLANE GREEN: AXIS OF THE TOOTH PRE- TREATMENT BLUE: AXIS OF THE TOOTH AT PROGRESS *NOTE: THERE IS NO TORQUE WITH A TRADITIONAL ROUND WIRE IN THE BRACKET SLOT.

Commentary; A) When the vertical & horizontal interferences were “reduced”, the mandible came forward. Note the red profiles in the mandible. There were no braces on the lower at that point. B) If the bracket slot and the primary arch wire were tied in during the “torquing” of a tooth using bio-mechanics, the center of rotation of the tooth would approximate the arch wire. The position of the bracket slot would further not have moved to the labial to any amount approaching 5.5.MM. C) Bio\Analytic™ Mechanics allowed the tooth in this patient to move in a “torquing type movement” to the desired position in 42 days. The difference in the results in this case, as opposed to traditional orthodontics, were due to the application of Bio\Analytic™ Mechanics (considering the living functional factor). Traditional bio-mechanics designed from the appliance side of the equation would result in a more typical result.
