5 Breastfeeding For Baby…….  Has all the nutrients for growth and development.  Prevent respiratory and intestinal infections, and allergies.  Less likely to develop inflammatory bowel disease and diabetes.  Reduces risk of Sudden Unexpected Death of an Infant (SUDI/SIDS) Benefits of Breastfeeding

6 For Mum…….  Will make your uterus (womb) contract, which helps reduce the risk and amount of bleeding after birth.  Reduces the risk of breast cancer and epithelial ovarian cancer.  The cost of extra food required by you to breastfeed is small in comparison to the large cost of formula and equipment needed for its preparation.  Convenient as you will always have the milk ready to go wherever you are.

7 Breastfeeding Skin to Skin (1 hour if possible) Skin to skin assists with the release of hormones in the mother and encourages breastfeeding instincts in the newborn Feeding Cues Getting started……….
