2 Why does the city need Coventry Ambassadors? Coventry Ambassadors will be the first port of call for anyone needing information and assistance about London 2012 events occurring in the city of Coventry. We are looking for over 300 volunteers to act as Coventry Ambassadors during the 2012 Games who will be responsible for welcoming the world to Coventry. Coventry is playing a major role in London 2012 through hosting Olympic Football, the Olympic Torch Relay and many other sporting and cultural events.

3 Games Makers V Coventry Ambassadors Games Makers – London 2012 volunteers 70,000 Inside Olympic venues Specific function and role within a venue Applications are now closed for Games Makers Coventry Ambassadors – Coventry volunteers 300+ Outside Olympic venues – Way finding Assist visitors to Coventry during the Games Located at key tourist destination points across the city

4 What is the role of a Coventry Ambassador? Supporting key London 2012 events: Olympic Football fixtures 25 July – 9 August Olympic Torch Relay evening celebration event on the 1 July 2012 Live Site Big Screen events Acting as an Ambassador for the city: Friendly, helpful, informative and polite Create the right impression of Coventry Be welcoming, be positive and be proud! Hosting visitors: Signposting to key city centre attractions Welcome at key transport interchanges Information and assistance / enquiries Guidance on route to Olympic venue

5 What are the types of Coventry Ambassador? Coventry Ambassador: Act as friendly and efficient host to spectators and other visitors to Coventry during the Olympic Games offering assistance to all. Coventry Ambassador Team Leader: Responsible for leading a small group of Ambassadors during London 2012 events in Coventry ensuring that all tasks are undertaken appropriately and safely. Coventry Ambassador Linguist: Offer clear and accurate information for non- English speaking visitors during Games time ensuring that people arrive at their destination on time and navigate easily around Coventry.

6 What do you get as a Coventry Ambassador? Coventry Ambassadors will receive: Coventry Ambassador uniform Refreshments during shifts London 2012 pin badge Coventry Ambassador and Sports Maker training Sports Makers Adidas kit Last mile travel provision Celebration event Coventry Ambassadors will not receive: Travel expenses Accommodation Payment for shifts

8 Requirements to be a Coventry Ambassador To be eligible to volunteer you must: Be 18 or over by 1 January 2012 Live, work, study or volunteer in Coventry Be available to volunteer during 25 July and 9 August 2012 Complete all specified training for the role Complete a Health declaration form Complete a Self declaration form Team leaders must undertake an enhanced CRB check At selection stage applicants will need to demonstrate: Ability to communicate effectively in English Accept role and deployment locations that are offered Willingness to participate in all training sessions prior to the Games A range of personal qualities to ensure we get a service of excellence delivered by Coventry Ambassadors
