3. Plater was founded in 1908 by Jozefa Siwikowa in Sosnowiec. In the beginning it was a school only for girls, this until 1956 when it was decided to open the classes also for boys to attend. On this time the school was located at the city center on Modrzejowska street.

4. There were many famous people who were learning in „Plater”: -Jacek Cygan - song writer -Krzysztof Materna - publisher, producent, director -Jacek Borusinski - actor JACEK CYGAN KRZYSZTOF MATERNA JACEK BORUSIŃSKI

5. It is situated near Przemsza river on Parkowa Street and it’s easy to get there from Polish Train Station in Sosnowiec, since it’s only a 400m walk from there.

6. Pupils form Plater school take part in many events across and abroad Poland. For instance, last year our pupils were in Italy. This year the school pupils created a Cultural Club, developed a school newspaper and organized other activities. Our school also participates in the annually boat race against Staszic high school.

7. Plater is a modern school that contains a multimedia center, a library and an assembly hall.

8. Around the school we have got a volleyball, a basketball court and a soccer pitch. When it’s too cold to go outside you can always try your skills at our table tennis tournament in every break. Our school also edits an interesting magazine about our happy school life.

9. Plater allows our pupils to make their choice for the chairman of the school. Through the project ‘Young Vote’ the students are allowed to choose which one of them will represent the others.

10. Plater’s day is in the spring, we also call it "open school's doors". On this day anyone can come to visit Plater and we show to the incomers how interesting it is to attend our school. Therefor we organize interesting events to show the aspirants that they’ll want to come back to Plater in September, this time not as guests but as pupils.

11. Every year there is a contest called „Emiliada” which takes place in our school. Teenagers who are planning to learn in Plater are participating on it. Emiliada is a chemistry, maths and science competition.

12. „Laur plateranki” is an international poetry contest for pupils of II LO im. Emilii Plater and students from other foreign countries. Everyone who feels like a Shakespeare can try to write something and take part in the contest. Young poets recite their works in the poem evening of our school.
