3 NASA MSFC Mission Operations Laboratory MSFC Page 3 POIF Objective and Performance Goals  Objective:  Ensure successful payload operations on the ISS or the Shuttle.  Performance Goals:  Plan and safely perform ISS and Shuttle payload operations.  Achieve 100% of critical science objectives each increment.  Implement all ISS program requirements.  Perform the training, planning, and operations integration for the ISS Payloads within the allotted on-board resources, budget, and schedule.  Coordinate real-time payload operations to enable PD research goals to be successfully achieved.  Perform real-time command and control of the NASA payload support systems in support of the payload complement.

4 NASA MSFC Mission Operations Laboratory MSFC Page 4 Real-time Responsibilities  POIC:  Provides the opportunity for payloads to accomplish defined science objectives.  Supports PD teams in successfully executing payload science.  Focal point for operations of NASA payloads per POH Vol 2  Responsible for configuring and maintaining the Payload Support System resources and NASA facilities’ support to subrack payloads.  Monitors H&S data to ensure safety and resource allocation compliance  Works with PDs and JSC/MOD to coordinate payload operational changes to the timeline and/or ISS system/resource impacts in an effort to achieve science goals  PD teams:  Ensures that the defined payload operations support the science requirements  Supports POIC in payload science execution  Adheres to operational procedures documented in POH Vol 2  Generally operates from sites remote to the POIC (universities, TSCs, etc.)  LIS:  Determines science priorities (among payloads)
