3 3 History The history of Las Vegas, Nevada can be traced back to the year of 1829, when Antonio Armijo lead a party of 60 on the Old Spanish Trail to Los Angeles. A scouting party went to look out for water. A Mexican named Rafael Rivera left the party and headed west. He discovered, in the unexplored dessert, an oasis. Now instead of going around the dessert, people can cut through the oasis. Spanish traders named this shortcut Las Vegas. Spanish for “The Meadows.”

14 14 Future Problems Rumor has it that Las Vegas in the future will run out of water. Also, in our opinion, we think that this theory is correct because before crossing the Hoover Dam, the temperature rises dramatically. On a recent vacation, during the day in Las Vegas, temperatures can be up to 110 degrees! The most shocking detail though, is that in the night, people wear shorts because temperatures can be in the hundreds mostly due to the black concrete and the millions of lights that surround Las Vegas Boulevard. Only time will tell if this rumor is correct.
