1 The United States Presidentials Elections The election of the President and Vice President of the United States is an indirect vote in which citizens cast ballots for members of the U.S Electoral College; these electors in turn directly elect the President and Vice President. Presidential elections occur on Election Day, on the Tuesday between November 2 and 8. The most recent one was the 2008 presidential election, held on November 4 that year. The next election will be in 2012 on November 6. -Where and When ? -Political Parties -Barack Obama -Mitt Romney -Conclusion, My choice.

2 Where And When ? In The United States, the president is elected by an indirect universal suffrage. The election takes place in several stages. The president and the vice-president are elected by votes in all the States of the U.S.A The Primaries: This is the first important step in the American election. These primaries allow each party activists to nominate their delegate candidate. In some states, these primary elections are "open" to all voters, even if they are not party activists. The important date in the primaries is Super Tuesday: the day when the greatest number of states vote. After the selection of the party candidates in each state, the national party conventions meet and invest a candidate and his vice president. They call this couple a"ticket". "Election day": the popular vote The popular vote is the election of a "ticket". This is the time when all American voters are asked to vote directly for their favourite candidates. The winner in each state then names his Vice-President. The challenge is to seize the most populous states with the highest number of electoral votes: California, New York, Texas, Florida. The Election by the Electoral College: Presidents and Vice Presidents are ultimately elected by the electoral college. The electors vote for the candidate they are pledged to support, and must obtain an absolute majority. Eligibility U.S. citizens can present themselves ◊ if they were born on the American ground. ◊ aged 35 years minimum. ◊ and resided in the United States for at least 14 years.

There have two other parties The Green and The Libertarian The nominee of The Green is Jill Stein The nominee of The Libertarian is Gary Johnson Of the 538 electoral votes of the Electoral College 270 electoral votes are needed to win

4 Barack Obama the outgoing president and the nominee of the Democratic Party Barack Hussein Obama born in Honolulu in Hawaii the 08,04,1961.Obama is a graduate of Columbia University and Harvard Law School, where he was the president of the Harvard Law Review. He was a community organizer in Chicago before getting his law degree. He worked as a civil rights attorney in Chicago and taught constitutional law at the University of Chicago Law School from 1992 to 2004. Barack Obama spent two years at Occidental College in Los Angeles and then joined Columbia University in New York. He graduated in 1983 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, specializing in international relationships. At the end of his studies Barack Obama returned to Chicago to become a teacher of constitutional law at the University of Chicago, where he worked until 2004. He joined a law firm specializing in civil rights. He was the Senator of the state of Illinois He’s the 44th president of the USA He is also married to Michelle Obama and he has two children, Sacha and Malia

5 Mitt Romney the competitor of Barack Obama and the Nominee of the Republican party Willard Mitt Romney was born in Detroit in Michigan the 03.12.1947, he is an American businessman, a politician, and the Republican Party nominee for President of the United States in the 2012 election. From 2003 to 2007, he served as the 70th Governor of Massachusetts. In 1966, he was 19 when he went two years in France as a Mormon missionary. In 1994, he started for the first time in politics in an election for the Republicans in the Senate election against Edward Kennedy. Romney was beaten, but got 41% of votes, the highest score ever achieved by a candidate against Kennedy. OnJune 2, 2011 Mitt Romney announced his candidacy for the Republican nomination for the 2012 presidential election. At the Republican convention in August 2012, he was officially nominated as the candidate of the Republican Party.

6 If I could,who would I vote for ? If I could vote for someone, I would vote for Barack Obama because he is for abortion, civil unions for homosexual couples while Mitt Romney is against. Obama promised to end the war in Iraq in 16 months and has progressively withdrawn U.S. troops He announced an 80% reduction of CO2 emissions in the United States by 2050. Obama plans to invest $ 150 billion by 2020 in renewable energies. He wants to support the development of biofuels and announces 1 million hybrid cars in the United States in 2015. The universal health coverage is one of the principal measures announced by Barack Obama. In the U.S.A nearly 46 million people don’t have a health insurance and he wants to make health coverage a right He promises lower taxes for almost all citizens as well, seniors earning less than 50,000 dollars per year will be exempt from tax. As a Conclusion “Yes, We Can !”
