2 BACKGROUND INFORMATION ABOUT ATHENA Goddess of wisdom She was born out of her father's (Zeus) forehead because he swallowed his wife(Metis) while she was pregnant. Zeus began having terrible headaches, all the gods tried to help Zeus to try and relieve his headaches. Finally Hermes asked Hephaestus to split open Zeus's skull. Athena sprung out fully grown and in a full set of armour. She is very good at war strategies. Athena was the Greek virgin goddess of reason, intelligent activity, arts and literature. She only took part in wars that defended state and home from outside enemies. Became the patron goddess of Athens after winning a contest against Poseidon by offering the olive tree to the Athenians.

3 ATHENA'S AREA OF LIFE SPECIAL RESPONSIBILITY Athena made sure everyone was doing the right thing. Her decisions were renowned for fairness and compassion.

5 SPECIAL QUALITIES THAT MARKED HER APPERANCE She wore armour Carried a spear On her (aegis) vest or shield is the symbol of a Gorgon's head. The Gorgon's head represents her appearance to her enemies.She wears an aegis, which is fringed with snakes. The snakes is the symbol of the creative power of wisdom. Athena wore a helmet to hide her beauty

6 THE ANIMAL OR PLANT SHE WAS ASSOCIATED WITH Athena was associated with a tree called the olive Tree. The olive tree was her holy tree.

7 QUIRKS IN ATHENA'S PERSONALITY OR APPEARANCE She is usually not emotional or compassionate.

9 MOST INTERESTING ABOUT ATHENA Athena was born from her father(Zeus), out of his forehead. When she was born, she sprang out full grown and dressed in armour. She got her power of wisdom because she was born from her father's forehead. She doesn't have a big temper, she is usually kind.
