2. BACKGROUND INFORMATION ABOUT ATHENA Goddess of wisdom She was born out of her father's (Zeus) forehead because he swallowed his wife(Metis) while she was pregnant. Zeus began having terrible headaches, all the gods tried to help Zeus to try and relieve his headaches. Finally Hermes asked Hephaestus to split open Zeus's skull. Athena sprung out fully grown and in a full set of armour. She is very good at war strategies. Athena was the Greek virgin goddess of reason, intelligent activity, arts and literature. She only took part in wars that defended state and home from outside enemies. Became the patron goddess of Athens after winning a contest against Poseidon by offering the olive tree to the Athenians.

3. ATHENA'S AREA OF LIFE SPECIAL RESPONSIBILITY Athena made sure everyone was doing the right thing. Her decisions were renowned for fairness and compassion.

The Gorgon's head represents her appearance to her enemies.She wears an aegis, which is fringed with snakes. The snakes is the symbol of the creative power of wisdom. Athena wore a helmet to hide her beauty

6. THE ANIMAL OR PLANT SHE WAS ASSOCIATED WITH Athena was associated with a tree called the olive Tree. The olive tree was her holy tree.
