Status: Continuing efforts to reduce use of single-occupancy vehicles Some partner organizations have developed transportation demand management (TDM) programs that include carpools, vanpools, buses, MARC train, Metro, telework, and compressed or alternate work schedules Construction vehicles exacerbate traffic and parking issues Assessment: TDM is comprised of three lines of effort Mass transit: carpools, van pools, buses, MARC, METRO Telework/Alternate Work Schedules (AWS): Approved alternate and telework schedules increases flexibility 11% of the Fort Meade workforce use mass transit and/or AWS Strategic Way Ahead: Advocate for increased capacity at Odenton MARC station Open pedestrian/bike gate at SE corner of Installation Develop more routes and times for regional transit – currently more than two hours to take bus from Glen Burnie to Fort Meade (15 miles) Seek opportunities to promote and support increased alternate/telework schedules (Establish 24-hr day care) Transportation Demand Management
