My Educational Philosophy Maria Rivera EDU 650 Teaching, Learning and Leading in the 21 st Century Stefanie Lassitter May 26, 2014

My Educational Philosophy Positive Attitudes Parental involvement (Newsletters, meetings, post online….). Teach students and to help to guide them to become independent. Provide opportunities to work in small groups, positively resolve conflicts, and to teach them to be honest, respectful, and to always be hard working. To be engaging with the students, letting them know that I am there to help them in any way possible. Image taken from (Bigstock Online Education, 2014)

Classroom Management Teach children to be an advocate for themselves. To teach them how to properly use technology, to find information using technology and even using books. Implement technology in anyway possible To provide a hands-on learning. Work in small groups and in pares and independently. Image from (National Council on Teacher Quality, 2013)

Classroom Management Provide lectures online and discuss information learned in the classroom. Set guidelines for what I expect from my students for the year and ask my students what they expect from me. Give my students help if they need it, to let my students know that I will always be there if they need me.

Different school Models The students will be able to use the computers, smart-boards, IPad and they will be able to use the computer labs. Technology is very important for students to be college and career readiness. Rystad said that children can be active in their learning by applying a green, yellow and red system; if the students say green then they understand and can explain the lesson, if they have yellow then that means that they have difficulty understanding the lesson and green can help them, if the students choose red then that means that the students are lost and the teacher needs to spend more time with them (Rystad, 2013). I want the students watch my lesson online at home so when they come into class they are able to work in small groups, in pares, and individually. So they are able to share their work with the other students through discussions, and asking questions so the students are staying involved. I also believe that the students need to struggle a little bit so they are able to develop problem solving skills and they are able to use critical thinking.

Effective Lesson Planning and Design Children will be active in there role to learning, they will be independent and make their own choice on what they want to do next. It is my job to keep the children excited about learning, I will model what I want my students to do. My students will learn how to find information using technology and even be able to find information using a book in the library. To provide students with activities that is set before them so they get the full extent of what I am teaching them.

Assessments Matters Assessments are important for learning how my students are learning and how they are doing. Giving my students tests allows me to know how they are doing in their learning and if there are anything I need to focus more on because my students need help in that area. i will ask them questions and engage in conversations with them to see if they understand or if they need help. I believe that students learn best form their peers so this is were Rystad’s green, yellow, and red system will com into play so if they tell me they are at yellow or red the “green” students will help the “yellow” or “red” system(Rystad, 2013).

Professional Learning Communities The importance of communicating with other teachers and colleagues is important for me, so that I can learn from them and to get their advice if I myself is personally struggling, with how to help my students that are really struggling. Technology is important so I will go online to take classes, go to trainings and read as much as possible so I can stay active in my learning process so that my students are able to be successful in their learning process.

My Classroom Independency Engagement Creativity Learning Technology being used as much as possible Working independently, in pares and small groups.
