Project Homeless Connect What is Project Homeless Connect? ▫One day community-wide event ▫One-stop for housing, support, quality of life services ▫One goal: ending homelessness ▫City/county or community led ▫Participant-centered ▫Outcome-oriented

Project Homeless Connect History ▫First event started in Fall 2004 by San Francisco mayor to engage and welcome homeless population back into the community ▫USICH launched National Project Homeless Connect Partnership in December 2005 ▫More than 200 cities in the U.S., Canada, and Australia have adopted the event within their communities San Francisco, San Diego, Las Vegas, Baltimore, Denver, Missoula, Tacoma, Reno, Richmond, Omaha, Kansas City

Project Homeless Connect Purpose ▫Enhance quality of life for entire community ▫Engage civic leaders in solutions to homelessness ▫Transform homeless service delivery systems ▫Increase public knowledge and awareness ▫Debunk myths and stereotypes ▫Increase investment and momentum towards solutions ▫Re-engage homeless neighbors ▫Offer rare qualify of life resources

Project Homeless Connect Key Characteristics ▫Hospitality Medical, dental, vision care, haircuts, meals, phone and internet access, showers, etc. ▫Immediate Access Same day results for housing, jobs, benefits and quality of life services ▫Community Involvement Voluntary civic participation ▫Partnership Collaboration between agencies and sectors ▫Excellence Evaluation and improvement of practices
