Getting to know Deirdre Hello! My name is Deirdre Thomas-Watson I currently live in Atlanta, Georgia and was born and raised here in the Atlanta.I am 36 years of age,I married my best friend and high school sweet heart, together we produced 3 beautiful, talented, amazing kids 2 boys 11years old, 9years old, and one daughter 5years old, I attend Chapel Hill Missionary Baptist Church located in the heart of downtown Atlanta, there I work with the Youth and Outreach Ministry. Immediately after graduating High School in 1998 I enrolled in a 2yr college to major in Early Childhood Care and Education, then continue to Mercer University to obtain my BA in Education, I currently work with an Head Start Program here in the city, where we offer services to students 6weeks to 5years of age I work five days a week 6am – 6pm, maybe three days out of the work week I am allowed to leave around 5:30pm, I enjoy watching Romantic and Drama Movies, Going out to eat, and traveling with my Family.

Something that represents me I am all about my family and making sure that together me and my husband give our kids the opportunities that was limited to us growing up.

MAED Program One of the MEAD Program learning outcomes that intrigue me the most would be the one that states to Engage in continuous professional growth through leadership in educational environments and the demonstration of legal and ethical behavior in professional practices. To continuously learn is important to my career because it causes me to be culturally competent in this ever changing world. It also allows me the opportunity for professional growth.

MY Thoughts on Assessments Any form of assessment has value. There are a variety of assessment tools that could be used to assess students, such as checklist, pop-quiz, open book test, standardized test, and many more, yet the more talked about are the “formative” and “summative” assessments.Teachers rely on accurate assessments to measure student’s growth and learning. Most often assessments will be taken before, during, and after the learning experience. The more information we have about students and their development, the clearer the picture would be about achievement or where we can support the individual child.

I look forward to the next six weeks with everyone and the experiences we will share!!!!
