A Day of Dedication A Display of Dedication – Exodus 20:4, 5- “Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me.”

4. They Wouldn’t Bend Their commitment was Unmovable Their confidence was unshakable Their convictions were unwavering

5. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego exemplify what real dedication is in the Christian life. It is more than something expressed by the lips. It is something exemplified in the life. Dedication is an absolute commitment to obeying the commands of God no matter what and no matter where. Dedication is the submission of life to God’s commands, making them the authority and guide of all decisions. Dedication is accepting the commands of God and following the commands of God even when we are in the minority. Dedication knows no compromise or concession. God’s commands are firm and final.

6. They Wouldn’t Burn Their Protection – Hebrews 13:5- “ I will never leave thee nor forsake thee.” – It has been often noted that only three came out of the furnace, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, and the fourth man, the Lord Jesus, is still in the furnace. Glory!

7. Their Promotion – God always honors those who honor Him. They wouldn’t bend, they wouldn’t bow, and God saw to it they wouldn’t burn. The best way to fireproof Christians is to honor and obey God.
