3. 1. Haiku A haiku is a three line poem. Line one = 5 syllables Line two = 7 syllables Line three = 5 syllables

5. 2. Cinquain A cinquain is a five line poem. Line one = 1 word Line two = 2 words Line three = 3 words Line four = 4 words Line five = 1-2 words FORMAT: Line 1 - one word for the topic (subject or noun) Line 2 - two words that describe your topic (adjectives) Line 3 - three words that describe actions related to your topic (action verbs) Line 4 – four words that describe feelings related to your topic Line 5 – one/two words that are another name for your topic

7. 3. Quatrain A quatrain is a four line poem. Follow the rhyme scheme ABAB. –The first and third lines should rhyme with each other. –The second and fourth lines should rhyme with each other.

9. 4. Your Choice! You can write a haiku, cinquain, quatrain, or a free verse poem! It’s up to you! At least 6 lines for Free Verse… Must include 1 example of each: Alliteration Repetition Onomatopoeia An example of Figurative Language Simile, metaphor, personification, imagery, hyperbole, idiom, etc.
