3 Test Administrator Definition ●Test Administrator (TA): An individual at the school responsible for administering the assessment ●TAs per ODE must meet two criteria: 1.Must be employees of the district 2.Must hold a current license, certificate or permit issued by the Ohio Department of Education. In Ohio, paraprofessionals may serve as TAs.

4 Test Administrator Responsibilities ●Picking up the testing tickets from your Building Test Coordinator ●Preparing the test environment and passing out needed materials ●Ensuring all cell phones are collected before testing begins ●Reading scripted directions provided by AIR (Online Testing Checklist)

5 Test Administrator Responsibilities ●During each session, actively supervising the test administration ●Properly administering accommodations (as applicable) ●Managing Test Sessions in TIDE and keeping time ●Supervising your proctor, if you have one ●Collecting all scratch paper used and shredding it (Building can create a plan for the collection and shredding.)

6 Proctor Definition & Responsibilities ●Proctor: An individual who may be called on to help a Test Administrator monitor a testing session under the supervision of the Test Administrator ●A TA must be in the room at all times during testing if a Proctor is used ●Student teachers may serve as Proctors but cannot serve as Test Administrators

7 TA Cell Phones ●TA may have his/her cell phone on vibrate. ●Phones should only be used to communicate via text with your Building Test Coordinator, etc. ●Please refrain from playing games

8 Testing Environment ●It is important to establish procedures to maintain a quiet testing environment throughout testing ●The following should be taken into consideration: ❖ Make sure students have silent work for after test ❖ Ensure unauthorized visitors are prohibited from entering the testing environment ❖ Ensure the testing sign AIR Testing Please Do Not Disturb is posted outside the testing room ❖ A sign that can be downloaded at www.ccstesting.weebly.com under the OST dropdown.www.ccstesting.weebly.com ❖ Lawn mowing should be completed before/after testing

9 Guidelines for Testing Time ●Although each test session has a specific amount of allotted time, the tests are NOT timed on the computer ●The Test Administrators are responsible for keeping time during the testing (just as they did with paper-based testing)

10 Computer Carrels ●Carrels are not mandatory. They are recommended. ●However, if a student feels very confined and doesn’t want one, please do not make him/her use one.

11 Blank Paper ●Two sheets of blank scratch paper MUST be given to each student for all ELA tests. ●Scratch paper may be handed out for the other tests if the student requests it. ●All paper written on must be collected and shredded after testing.

12 Math Paper Reference Sheets ●There are paper reference sheets that are identical to what’s already available online for the students to use. ●Let the students know they are available if they would prefer having one. ●These reference sheets are available for download at www.ccstest.weebly.com under the OST dropdown. www.ccstest.weebly.com

13 Handheld Calculators ●If a student wants a handheld calculator, in addition to the online version, they may be given one.

14 Scribing ●If you are scribing or need to provide your scribe with instructions on how to scribe, this document can be downloaded at www.ccstesting.weebly.com under the OST dropdown.www.ccstesting.weebly.com

15 Materials Prohibited During All Testing ●All cellular phones (other than Test Administrators) ●Other non-test-related personal items such as iPods and eBooks ●Instructional aids related to the content being assessed ●Reference books ●Any resource that defines, explains, or illustrates terminology or concepts on the assessments ●Mathematical formulas and conversion tables ●Posters, maps, charts, and displays that define, explain, or illustrate terms or concepts

16 Student Testing Tickets (The only secure documents for AIR that must be locked up! ●Every student taking an AIR assessment will have their own unique Student Testing Ticket. ●Students will use the same ticket for all tests. ●Test Administrators will pass out the Student Test Tickets the day of testing. ●Test Administrators MUST collect the Student Test Tickets after testing is completed each day. These same tickets will be used for all units. ●TAs will keep the tickets locked up until the next test session or turn them back in to the Building Test Coordinator. (Buildings choose which option) ●After all testing is completed, Test Administrators will return the tickets to the Building Test Coordinator for shredding.

17 Test Scripts & Clarifying Directions ●TAs are required to adhere to the test scripts (Online Testing Checklist) ●All directions may be repeated as necessary for all students ●TAs and Proctors may not answer or clarify questions from students about test items or passages or assist students in any way in responding to test items ●TAs and Proctors may show a student where a tool is located but NOT how to use that specific tool

18 Breaks for Students ●Restroom breaks: During a session, individual restroom breaks may be provided at the discretion of the TA ●No more than one student at a time be allowed to use the restroom ●Students should pause their test before using the restroom and then the TA will need to resume the test for them when they return ●Students must be supervised at all times between the testing room and the restroom (e.g., by a Proctor) ●The TA should document the restroom break and add the time back for the student if he/she needs it

19 Submitting Tests ●Students submit their tests after each part (session). ●If they run out of time, their tests must be paused. These will then remained paused until the end of the day. At day’s end, the system will automatically submit these tests.

20 Security Violations ●Security Violations: Actions prohibited before, during, and after testing that compromise security ●Examples: ➢ Explaining passages or test items to students ➢ Taking photos of online testing computer screens ➢ Coaching students during a test, including giving students verbal or nonverbal cues, hints, etc ➢ Leaving students alone to test or with a Proctor only ➢ Giving students more or less time than allotted ➢ Allowing students to pass notes or talk during testing ➢ Formally or informally scoring student responses ➢ Revealing or discussing passages or test items with anyone, including students and staff

21 Testing Irregularities ●Testing Irregularities: Actions or events that may occur before, during, or after administration that may compromise validity of the test ●Examples: ➢ Building evacuation or lockdown ➢ Loss of internet connectivity

22 Reporting a Security Violation or Testing Irregularity Should a security breach or test security concern occur – contact the BTC for your building immediately! BTCs will then immediately contact Dr. Dawson or Bobby Dasco.

23 Materials Allowed ONLY After a Student Has Completed Testing CCSD policy allows three options for students who complete testing prior to their peers 1.Read a book quietly - the book CANNOT be related to the content being tested that day/unit 2.Fun worksheets or other busy work is acceptable 3.Sit quietly until all students finish the unit Under NO CIRCUMSTANCE should a student who has finished testing be allowed on the computer for any other purpose
