4 User Roles for Completing TELPAS Assessment Activities Specific roles that can be used for TELPAS  Online session administrators – have the access to manage test sessions and rating entry groups; can assist campus coordinators in setting up and managing online test sessions as well as setting up and managing rating entry groups  Online test administrators – have the access to perform functions related to administering online tests  TELPAS rating entry assistants – have the access to enter holistic rating information from the TELPAS Student Rating Roster into the Assessment Management System 4

6 Texas Assessment Management System New features specific to TELPAS  Improved process for handling students who move between campuses and districts during the TELPAS administration  Enhanced to prevent districts from testing students in an incorrect grade cluster  Accommodates the holistic rating component Rating entry screen is separate from online testing screen Students can be grouped one way for entry of rating information and another way for online testing 6

8 8 Student Identification, Demographic, and Program Information Districts verify student data uploaded in Texas Assessment Management System. Depending on option districts choose for uploading student data,  this process may begin the week of January 3 for districts who opted for PEIMS upload of data  this process may begin as soon as e-mail notification confirming successful upload has been received if district supplies locally created data file (these files may be submitted beginning January 3) Registration file to be verified against current district/campus information to update data if needed and add any new enrollees  Test Management>Register Students>Request Registration File  District and campus coordinators have this access Instructions for adding students and updating data can be found in the User’s Guide for the Texas Assessment Management System

9 9 Updating Student Information Updating student identification, demographic, & program information:  Edit and upload registration file under Send Student Data screen Although campus coordinators can request and edit the registration file, the file must be submitted to the district coordinator for re-upload into the Assessment Management System.

14 14 Creating TELPAS Reading Test Sessions For instructions about how to create online test sessions, refer to Reading Test Administrator Activity 4 in the TELPAS Manual and the User’s Guide for Assessment Management System.

17 17 Mark Test Complete Reading tests should only be marked complete for the following reasons:  “Do not score” situations Absence for entire testing window Second semester immigrant non-English reader ARD Decision TEA-approved paper administration for a student already in an online test session Other (illness or testing irregularity)  Student forgot to click Submit before exiting out of the test Students with “do not score” codes must also have their tests marked complete through Mark Test Complete screen District coordinators, campus coordinators, and online session administrators have access to complete this task.

A student’s test is automatically scored when the student clicks the Submit button at the end of the test.

23 23 Reading Test Session Monitoring TELPAS Summary Report (District Level)  Displays by campus the number of students with each status (Not Started, In Progress, Completed, and Resolution Required) for the holistic rating and reading portions TELPAS Combined Status Report (District and Campus Level)  Displays the overall status of each student within the district or campus and enables coordinators to know whether rating information has been entered, reading tests have been completed, and Years in U.S. Schools information has been entered

26 Rating Entry Groups Ratings and other rater information cannot be entered until the student is placed in a rating entry group These groups are not dependent on reading test sessions or reporting groups Students may be arranged according to their TELPAS rater or in any other campus grouping  The enrolled grade level in PEIMS does NOT restrict the organization of students in rating entry groups Testing coordinators or online session administrators have access to create these groups  It is recommended that districts create rating entry groups 1 to 2 weeks before testing 26

38 38 Final Data Verification Window April 11–13, 2011 Allow districts time to verify completeness and accuracy of student data before scoring begins Assessment window closes Friday, April 8 Verification window closes Wednesday, April 13 If during the verification process it is discovered that a student has not tested, the student must be tested during the verification window.

40 40 TELPAS Student Tutorials & ePAT Launcher 2.13 Updated student tutorials made available Fall 2010  Available to assist students in becoming familiar with the TELPAS online testing environment  The prior version of the ePAT launcher (version 2.12) must be uninstalled and then new launcher version 2.13 must be downloaded and installed in order to use this year’s Flash-based student tutorials  Access tutorials and ePAT launcher at http://www.TexasAssessment.com/TELPAS-tutorials
