1 Beta Zeta Chapter at Large and The University of Massachusetts, Amherst College of Nursing Present: Scholarship Day 2016 With keynote speaker Dr. Margaret Barton-Burke PhD, RN, FAAN Scholarship in Oncology Nursing in a National Cancer Treatment Center Wednesday, April 6, 2016 8:45 am-3:00 pm The Log Cabin 500 Easthampton Road Holyoke, MA 01040 Donna Polverini, MS, RN, CNE American International College Nursing Division 1000 State St. Springfield MA 01109 Dr. Margaret Barton-Burke PhD, RN, FAAN Dr. Margaret Barton-Burke is Director of Nursing Research at Memorial Sloan Kettering and current President of the Oncology Nursing Society. Dr. Barton-Burke has been a pioneer in breast cancer research, especially among black women She has been an active leader within ONS for more than 30 years, serving as director-at-large and president-elect before assuming the presidency. In addition, she has served on numerous committees within ONS.president-elect Among her many recognitions and awards, Barton-Burke is co-author of award-winning books, including “Oncology Nursing Drug Handbook” and “Cancer Chemotherapy: A Nursing Process Approach.” Both titles earned the American Journal of Nursing Book of the Year award. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Nursing.Oncology Nursing Drug Handbookfellow

2 Program Objectives At the end of the program participants will 1. Identify variations in the use of the word “scholarship” using Boyer’s model of scholarship. 2. Compare and contrast scholarship from evidence based and discovery research perspective. Contact hours have been applied for through the College of Nursing, UMass Amherst. To successfully complete this educational activity and receive continuing education credit, the participant must: Sign in, complete & submit an evaluation form and remain for the entire program.
