Leave & Other Benefits Annual leave 1 Over 1 year of service, 18 working days of annual leave each year is granted. 2 Less than 1 year of service, a proportion of 18 working days is granted. 3 The leave year begins on September 1 and end on August 31. 4 Unused Annual Leave may not be carried forward to the next year.

Leave & Other Benefits Sick Leave 1 1 day per month for the first year of service, and 2 days per month after. 2 Maximum accumulation: 45 days for less than 6 years of service, and 90 days for 6 or more years of service. 3 Full-pay will be provided. Over the maximum period, 50% pay for the next three months, and 40% after. 4 A Medical Certificate is needed for Sick Leave with 2 days or more. Absence not supported by Medical Certificates will be treated as the absenteeism.

Leave & Other Benefits Marriage Leave 1 All staff are entitled to 3 calendar days of Marriage Leave. 2 Male staff over 25 years old and female staff over 23 years old over first marriage shall have 10 extra calendar days. 3 The marriage leave should be taken at once within 180 calendar days after the marriage. For Maternity Leave and Paternity Leave, Please refer to the State Law and Regulations.

9 2. Leave & Other Benefits Special Leave Special Leave may be granted by the Dean of Division, Center Director or the President for academic or professional purpose. For example: ☆ Attending academic conferences, meetings, seminars etc; ☆ Collecting teaching and/or research data; ☆ Visiting academic, research, industrial or administrative institutions; ☆ Participating in consultancy, internship or exchange programs, etc. Special leave may only be granted when it does not affect the normal teaching schedule.

10 2. Leave & Other Benefits Home Leave 1 A period of 7 calendar days may be granted. 2 Application for Home Leave may be made at any time to the Dean of Division, Center Director or the President.

13 2. Leave & Other Benefits Housing Benefit 1 All Local Staff (HK, Macao, Taiwan is optional) will participate in the housing fund system. 2 Both the staff and the College will contribute 5% of monthly salary to the Staff’s individual housing fund account.

Leave & Other Benefits Allowance 1 Education Allowance 2 Other Allowance ◇ For Full-time staff whose children attend UIC, the college will subsidize 50% of the tuition fee. ◇ For Part-time staff whose children attend UIC, the college will subsidize 25% of the tuition fee. Staff members who have completed over one year of service at UIC will be granted subsidies under the following two circumstances when verified by HRO. 16 4. Performance Review Probation Review 1 Conducted at the end of Teaching Result Assessment in each semester. 2 Evaluated from three aspects: △ Self-assessment △ Performance Evaluation by direct supervisor/ Director/ Dean △ Teaching Result Assessment (evaluated by students, arranged by AR)

Performance Review Annual Performance Review 1 Conducted in July and August, focusing on performance during the previous 12 months. 2 Evaluated from three aspects as same as the probation review. 3 The result provides a basis for decision on extending employment contract, salary adjustment, staff training & development etc.

18 5. Training & Conference Attend conference / seminars Eligibility: Full-time staff only. Grant: Registration only if not presenting paper; Full pay for passage in China; 1/2 pay for passage overseas if presenting paper. Note: A staff member may apply for special leave once a year. Normal duties and classes should be made up. Attend Course/ Training Eligibility: Full-time staff with at least 1 year’s service. Grant (up to RMB50,000): A: RMB3,000 and below B: 1/4 of Tuition C: 1/2 of Tuition D: 3/4 of Tuition Note: Only annual leave or no pay leave may apply here. The grant level will be decided by: A. Length of service B. Job performance C. Whether it is job-related

Training & Conference Special notes 1 Only one grant may be approved within any 12-month period. 2 After a grant has been approved, the applicant must serve out the full term of his/her employment contract.
