Directions: Use this template to create your Powerpoint presentation about your rocket experiment. You may personalize this as much as you want, but please make sure to include the information that is required on each page. You may also add pages as needed. Delete my text from each page as you add your information. There should be a heading for each section (these are already there – don’t delete them). Remember that effort, quality and creativity count. Please save this template to your server documents. Once the presentation is complete then you should email it to abby.rice@dvusd.orgabby.rice@dvusd.org This first page can be deleted once you finish your presentation and before you submit it.

Insert title here (create your own title) Make sure that all group members’ names are on this page. You should also include a photo of your rocket.

Background Write a paragraph that talks about the rockets and the variables that affect how far a rocket will fly (include at least 5 variables that can affect them – see page 2 in you reference section). Tell what a controlled experiment is (why do we conduct controlled experiments?) and what the independent and dependent variables are in your experiment – see pages 2 and 3 in your reference section. Also, talk about how you designed your own rocket and why you built it the way that you did. Include a photo of your rocket here if you wish.

Question Write your question on this page – see page 3 in your reference section

Hypothesis Write your hypothesis on this page. Make sure that it is in an “If…then…because…” format. See page 3 in your reference section

Procedure Write your procedure on this page that explains how you tested your hypothesis (not how you built your rocket). See page 3 in your reference section If you have video or photos, you can also include those (add pages as needed).

Accurate and Reliable Data Explain here how you made sure that your data was accurate and reliable. Include at least 3 controlled variables that you had here. Describe how you measured the angle each time. You may want to include a photo of the launcher here.

Data Insert data tables here that show the data that you collected (testing 3 angles and 3 trials for each that include distance and time in the air for each launch) and average distance and time for each angle. You can use the one on the next page or create one on your own. If you create your own, make sure that it includes units.

Data Angle (degrees) Distance 1 (feet and inches) Time 1 (seconds) Distance 2 (feet and inches) Time 2 (seconds) Distance 3 (feet and inches) Time 3 (seconds) Average Distance (inches) Average Time (seconds)

Data (continued) What does your data tell you? Calculate the speed of each angle (using the average distance and average time). Include the appropriate units. Which of these traveled the fastest horizontally? At which angle did it stay in the air longer?

Conclusion State whether or not the data supports your hypothesis. This should also include your claim (directly answer your question) as well as your evidence statement (summarize what you did and the data you collected).

Conclusion (continued) If you were to do this experiment again, what would you do differently? What were some possible sources of error (include at least 3 things)? How could you collect even more reliable data next time?
