16 16 Ground-Rules Cub Scouting is a family oriented structure we expect parent involvement Be there – don’t drop off Drop-offs at den or pack meetings are the exception rather than the rule We are not a baby-sitting service… volunteer, participate, enjoy. You monitor and discipline your cub (and his siblings) at den and pack meetings. The Den leaders should not have to.

17 17 Volunteering It doesn’t happen without you Volunteer to be a den leader or assistant den leader. We need depth in each den. Volunteer to help with den activities – Every month ask “What can I do to help?” Volunteer to assist with Pack activities Take charge of some aspect of a function or activity We know you have strengths……. We know you don’t have time – but we also know that busy people make the best helpers

18 18 Ten Needs of a Boy · To climb a mountain and look afar. · To sit around an embered campfire with good friends · To test his strength and his skills on his very own. · To be alone with his own thoughts and with his God. · To reach out and find the hand of an understanding man ready and willing to help. · To have a code to live by… easily understood and fair. · A chance to play hard just for the fun of it… and to work hard for the thrill of it. · To have a chance to fail… and know why. · To have and to be a good friend and have a chance to prove both. · To have a hero… and a vision to measure him by.
