Joining the Rest of the World with Technology based Education. Tony Keasler EDU620: Meeting Individual Student Needs With Technology Kimberly Hall Teaching in the 21 st Century District Educator July 6, 2015

Why are we asking for this bond, we need to keep up with our workforce and the world for that matter. As (Edyburn, D., 2013) states “ Because of the rapid pace of change in the technology marketplace, it can be challenging to stay current and determine the best tools for use in the classroom. One place to begin is to reflect on general applications of technology in society and then consider which trends are appropriate to also adopt in schools.

Attention, Attention, Attention: Flash some computers screens saying ACT NOW!!!!! Come Ye, Come Ye, if you care for your children.

 Universal design for learning (UDL) is a framework to improve and optimize teaching and learning for all people based on scientific insights into how humans learn.  This tool helps all students, those with disabilities and all.  Powerful and very useful tool for Students and Teachers.

Hanes, S. (2008) states, “The Living Books series offers an entire piece of literature on a CD- ROM. This resource helps reading become fun all the while teaching the student how to read, and love doing it. The student is able to interact with the text and the visuals.“

UDL’s are a very important resource to have your teachers at your school should be utilizing. (teal.ed.gov)writes “UDL is different from other approaches to curriculum design in that educators begin the design process expecting the curriculum to be used by a diverse set of students with varying skills and abilities.”By using this tool it helps students without having to type up six different lesson plans. It breaks the lesson down to all levels of learning, so that every student knows what the objective is.

I will have the computers up so that the parents and school officials are involved and see how the technology does enhance the learning. I will also have a speaker form my class to explain how this tool has helped them excel in the class.

Through our 21 st Century Education and Lesson based Programs we the school offer a technology based courses provide students with coherent and rigorous content. (tea.texas.gov) states “CTE content is aligned with challenging academic standards and relevant technical knowledge and skills needed to prepare for further education and careers in current or emerging professions.”

 Cosmetology Program: Helps aspiring students, that would like have a job in the hair design or nail design after High School, they program when complete, provides all licensures for the job.  Fire Fighter: Program allows students to go through the in the classroom instruction, afterwards all they have to do is go to the Fire Academy.  Certified Nurses Program: Allows the students to achieve the licensure of the program during four year course.

“Sports Medicine: Health and Physical Education” I chose this course because the majority of my students want to go into the medical field after graduation, but most choose Kinesiology. This course provides the path for these students. Under the Framework page it builds the Life and Career Fields. Our course provides the students access to the most state of the art equipment for our athletes, and trains them to diagnose and provide care for the student athlete. This program provides the students with the education that they will need and hands on training they will need to gain employment after college. This course offered will prepare them for using all the equipment and technology that goes along with this field of work. As the website (www.p21.org) reads “It will also provide the use of technology as a tool to research, organize, evaluate and communicate information.”www.p21.org

 How to properly use the Magnetic Resonance Imaging machine to help the on site PA.  The attendees will view a video of our students in action while using the MRI. This will show that a 17 year old is capable of learning and using how to operate a state of the Art Machine and they learned this in High School.

As you can see, we are preparing your students for the future, but to do this we need to provide for our schools future with the updated machinery and tools we need from this bond. With it, we can continue to advance our teaching and will be able to give your children our students the best chance at succeeding in life, and competing in the world market. As the website (www.k12.wa.us) “These classes integrate academics with technical skill development to help prepare students for higher-level courses in college or prepare you for a paid internship. Some middle schools offer limited CTE classes and most high schools offer a wide range of CTE classes.” This is why we need this bond to pass, to help our children prepare for the future and to deal with the ever changing world they live in.www.k12.wa.us
