1 Regulations 1999 Water Supply (Water Fittings) With an Introduction to Utility Applications

2 WHAT ARE THE REGULATIONS? 1 Section 74 Water Industry Act 1991 Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations 1999 Water Industry Guide – guidance to schedule 2 of the Regulations Regulations are there to provide protection for the water supply from waste; misuse; undue consumption and most importantly contamination

3 FLUID CATEGORIES 2 Category 5 Category 4 Category 3 Category 2 Category 1 Human pathogens, radioactive or very toxic substances Carcinogens, pesticides; health-related environmental micro-organisms Low toxicity substances e.g. ethylene glycol, sodium hypochlorite Changed in temp, taste, odour, appearance Meets drinking water standards Increasing risk to health Serious health risk Significant health risk Slight health risk Aesthetic deterioration Wholesome water

New charge for Water & Sewerage connections - £353.88 All other Developer Charges are under review, with revised charges being implemented from April 2016. A further communication will follow ahead of final publication on the website. The Application Pre-application reading There are a range of pre-application guidance documents available on our website. The following documents are available; Water Shared supply or lead water pipe replacement connections guidance notes Fire sprinklers domestic design policy and guidance Guidance on the requirements for water main requisitions and service connections Self lay addendum Large diameter service connection (LDC) guidance note Sewerage Sewer supply connections guidance notes Guidance notes for providing a public sewer or lateral drain Guidance notes for developers adoption of sewers Sewers adoption pumping stations Sewer diversion guidance Diversion of a Severn Trent Water main www.stwater.co.uk/developers/application-forms-and-guidance-notes/

13 NEW SUPPLIES 12 The Application continued.. Application Forms Water New standard water connection from existing mains 25mm and 32mm Replacement of a shared or lead water supply Large diameter water connection 50mm and above New water main application form Diversion of a Severn Trent Water main Sewerage Sewer connection to a existing public sewer S106 New sewer to be adopted S104 Sewer requisition application form Diversion of a Severn Trent Sewer FAQs What size connection do I need? This will depend on the type of development and the amount of water you require. For most domestic properties a standard 25mm or 32mm connection will be sufficient. For larger commercial properties you may require a bigger supply - this will be based on the fittings e.g. toilets, basins, showers etc you are planning on installing in the property. You can use our flow calculator determine if you need a standard connection or something a bit bigger. How much is it going to cost? Each connection is given and individual quote based on several factors. Once you have applied, we'll arrange to visit site and provide you with a site specific quote. The quote that is generated will most commonly be made up of the following costs: The connection (including additional excavation) Water meter Traffic management Infrastructure charges If you're at the early stages of planning your project and would simply like an estimate of the cost of a standard connection please use our online estimator tool. Please be aware this is not a quote and will be subject to change once we have done a detailed site assessment. www.stwater.co.uk/developers/flow-rate-estimator/ www.stwater.co.uk/developers/connection-fee-estimator/
