ACTS 1:4-5 Do not leave Jerusalem until the Father sends you the gift he promised, as I told you before. John baptized with water, but in just a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.

ACTS 1:8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere— in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.

ACTS 2:1-6 Suddenly, there was a sound from heaven like the roaring of a mighty windstorm… what looked like flames or tongues of fire appeared and settled on each of them… everyone present was filled with the Holy Spirit and began speaking in other languages…

ACTS 2:17-21 I will pour out my Spirit upon all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy. Your young men will see visions, and your old men will dream dreams. In those days I will pour out my Spirit even on my servants—men and women alike—and they will prophesy… But everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.

ACTS 2:42-43 All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, and to fellowship, and to sharing in meals, and to prayer. A deep sense of awe came over them all…

ACTS 2:44-47 And all the believers met together in one place and shared everything they had. They worshiped together at the Temple each day, met in homes for the Lord’s Supper, and shared their meals with great joy and generosity… And each day the Lord added to their fellowship those who were being saved.

ACTS 3-5 Do you remember when? Do you remember when?

ACTS 8:1-3 Saul was one of the witnesses, and he agreed completely with the killing of Stephen. A great wave of persecution began that day, sweeping over the church in Jerusalem; and all… were scattered through the regions of Judea and Samaria. But Saul was going everywhere to destroy the church. He went from house to house, dragging out both men and women to throw them into prison.

ACTS 8:4-5 But the believers who were scattered preached the Good News about Jesus wherever they went. Philip, for example, went to the city of Samaria and told the people there about the Messiah.

ACTS 8:26-28 As for Philip, an angel of the Lord said to him, “Go south down the desert road that runs from Jerusalem to Gaza.” So he started out, and he met the treasurer of Ethiopia, a eunuch of great authority under the Kandake, the queen of Ethiopia. The eunuch had gone to Jerusalem to worship, and he was now returning.

ACTS 8:32-38 “He was led like a sheep to the slaughter. And as a lamb is silent before the shearers, he did not open his mouth. He was humiliated and received no justice. Who can speak of his descendants? For his life was taken from the earth.” The eunuch asked Philip, “Tell me, was the prophet talking about himself or someone else?” So beginning with this same Scripture, Philip told him the Good News about Jesus. “Why can’t I be baptized?” and Philip baptized him.

SAUL

ACTS 9:19-21 Saul stayed with the believers in Damascus for a few days. And immediately he began preaching about Jesus in the synagogues, saying, “He is indeed the Son of God!” All who heard him were amazed. “Isn’t this the same man who caused such devastation among Jesus’ followers in Jerusalem?” they asked.

ACTS 9:31 The church then had peace throughout Judea, Galilee, and Samaria, and it became stronger as the believers lived in the fear of the Lord. And with the encouragement of the Holy Spirit, it also grew in numbers.

the gospel spreads

ACTS 10 the gospel is crossing ethnic lines

ACTS 10:44-48 …the Holy Spirit fell upon all who were listening to the message. The Jewish believers who came with Peter were amazed that the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out on the Gentiles, too… Peter asked, “Can anyone object to their being baptized, now that they have received the Holy Spirit just as we did?” … baptized in the name of Jesus Christ.

ACTS 11:18 When the others heard this, they stopped objecting and began praising God They said, “We can see that God has also given the Gentiles the privilege of repenting of their sins and receiving eternal life.”

ACTS 11:19-21 the believers who had been scattered during the persecution after Stephen’s death traveled as far as Phoenicia, Cyprus, and Antioch of Syria. They preached the word of God, but only to Jews. However, some of the believers who went to Antioch from Cyprus and Cyrene began preaching to the Gentiles about the Lord Jesus. The power of the Lord was with them, and a large number of these Gentiles believed and turned to the Lord.

ACTS 12:1-4 About that time King Herod Agrippa began to persecute some believers in the church. He had the apostle James killed with a sword When Herod saw how much this pleased the Jewish people, he also arrested Peter… Then he imprisoned him, placing him under the guard of four squads of four soldiers each

ACTS 12 Do you remember when? Do you remember when?

ACTS 12:24-25 Meanwhile, the word of God continued to spread, and there were many new believers. When Barnabas and Saul had finished their mission to Jerusalem, they returned, taking John Mark with them.

JOHN 16:33 I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.

2 CORINTHIANS 5:1-4 For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands. Meanwhile we groan, longing to be clothed instead with our heavenly dwelling… For while we are in this tent, we groan and are burdened, because we do not wish to be unclothed but to be clothed instead with our heavenly dwelling, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life.
