Improve the quality of effective early help - increased levels of case complexity and risk management in complex areas such as neglect and child sexual exploitation Develop the existing workforce Workforce flexibility to move between functions and roles Meet the needs of the wider children’s workforce and have clear progression routes Consistent professional standards in the context of increasing variation in the type of employers in this sector. Funding available Employers work in partnership with learning providers

Includes staff fulfilling roles such as: Troubled Families initiative, Family Support Workers, Residential Care Workers, Youth Support Workers, Pastoral Workers in Schools and Further Education, Parenting Workers, Transition Workers, Key Workers, Youth Offending Teams, Criminal Justice Work, Lifelong Learning, Palliative Care, Early Years Workers and many others

4 The Higher Apprenticeships currently being developed: Practitioners in Residential Childcare: Managers in Residential Childcare Children, Young People and Family Worker Children, Young People and Family Work Supervisors

5 Apprenticeship Standard for Practitioner in Children, Young People and Families Worker: ‘I statements’ You identified our strengths and difficulties and made us feel you understood. You asked what it would look like if it was better You didn't judge me. You included people who were important to me or could help me You accepted me for who I was You helped me to see things differently You stuck with me when times and I became difficult You made me aware when things were unsafe You weren't afraid to make difficult choices when it was the right thing to do

What sort of early help response from these workers would you expect? How can a higher apprenticeship move the workers from a ‘common sense place’ to a ‘professional place’?
