2 RESEARCH METHODOLOGY Research started at the third and fourth month of this year (March, April 2013). We collected the prices at the end of March and April. 18 products were included in our research. We went to the supermarkets, bus station, greengrocers, sport shops, stationary, petrol stations, food stores, communication centres, electricity institution, beershops and etc. (33 places all together.)

4 These products are the most used and bought ones according to the findings of the questionnaire. So, we searched for the prices of the most selling products from different market places.

7 THE STORES THAT WE VISITED

9 OUR STAGES;  First of all,we wandered 33 stores in March and April and we took down the prices.  After that, we calculated the geometrical statistics of each product and we divided the geometrical results of April by the geometrical results of March for each product.  Then, we multiply each of them with the weights of expenditure of the state statistics.(TUIK)  Next, we add the results above to each other.  Finally,we get ‘VIP’ or ‘HEC’ score.

13 According to the result we get from HEC calculation, consumer price index in April is 99,33. This result shows us that a decrease by 0,67 % in prices has been when compared with March. Negative (-0,67) result also indicates disinflation in April.

15 Inflation in 2012 was 2,63 Selected items indicating the highest increase are:  Alcoholic beverages and tobacco with the percentage of 15,20  Food and non-alcoholic beverages with 7,06 per cent.  Furnishings, household equipment, routine maintenance of the house with 2,20 per cent. Selected items indicating the highest decrease are:  Clothing and foot wear by -12,12 %  Recreation and culture by -0,07 %
