5 BECAUSE The Tank Or Its Piping May Leak As many as 25% of all UST may now be leaking. Many more will leak in the near future. For all you know, it may already be leaking. If a tank has past 10 years old, and especially if it is not protected from corrosion, the potential for leaking increases exponentially. Newer tank system can also leak, especially the piping and spills can happen anytime.

6 Leaking UST sites can be very costly to clean up. Imagine how much money you would lose if your tank could not be used for weeks during lengthy clean-ups or if local residents sued you for property damages BECAUSE

7 It Is For The Good Of The Community And The Environment Leaks and spills can have serious consequences. Petroleum can contaminate soil, drinking water supplies and air. Petroleum and its resulting vapors can also accumulate in nearby confined spaces, such as septic tanks and sewers. These vapors are poisonous and can cause fire and explosion.

9 LEAKAGES-HOW? Studies in the USA by authorized institutions (EPA, NFPA & API) concluded that leaks developed in UST and pipeline were caused by: Improper installation Insufficient testing Stress owing to type and volume of product Indentation – due to dip stick Erosion from constant refueling Corrosion of metal skin Movement of soil Water table Stray current (train/LRT etc)

11 TESTING STANDARD AND CERTIFICATION The testing system and equipment used are in accordance to the US EPA/CCR standard ( Environmental Protection Agency / California Code of Regulation). Equipment and system used are further certified by a 3 rd Party laboratory / institution approved by US EPA.

18 SAFETY AWARENESS EXTRACTS FROM THE SAFETY MANUAL 17.0 INCLEMENT WEATHER TESTING While testing in rainy/humid/cold weather, we are subject to the elements. Prior to proceeding with the test check connections to all over-load/PLCB trip units in the van. Testing may be postponed or cancelled for the following reasons: 1. If there is lightning within 10 miles of the test site, all electrical power to the test vehicle shall be disconnected ( Removed from switch or plug ) at the source and not reconnected until the lighting has subsided. 2. If there is lighting within 10 miles, all instrumentation will be removed from the tank. The instrumentation including probes and probe support has the capability of acting as a lighting rod and must be removed from the tank. When testing in the rain, all electrical connections should be wrapped with plastic and taped to discourage moisture from causing electrical discharge. This wrapping should be done as soon as it is suspected precipitation may occur, or during set up should it already be raining. The power supply to the van should also be covered and sealed with tape to prevent any water from entering the connecters. Watertight plastic containers can also be helpful to protect the test equipment and cable from the weather. When working in hot or humid conditions, drink plenty of fluids. Use sunscreen, sunglasses, and/or visor to protect from harmful ultraviolet rays. Regardless of temperature, T-shirt must be worm. Short sleeves cotton T-shirt are appropriate for hot climate testing WARNING 1)DO NOT USE MOBILE/CELL PHONE WITHIN THE STATION. 2)DO NOT WEAR SYNTHETIC METERIAL. ONLY USE COTTON APPAREL. 3)ENSURE SAFETY BOOTS, GOGGLE, GLOVE, SAFETY HARNESS, SAFETY VEST AND SAFETY HELMETS ARE IN GOOD ORDER TO USAGE. WARE/USE AT ALL TIMES –AT SITE
