7 Buddhism Key Concept: The Buddha At KS1 you might… focus on children’s ideas and experience of how they find answers to important questions; who children might turn to for answers about important key questions; who they trust and what sort of questions might they have about life. This could take the form of hearing stories about Buddha as a wise person. At KS2 you might… ask about what it means to be wise, why some people work hard to find answers to pain and suffering and ask questions about how Siddartha Gautama achieved this. What would it be like to have clues but no answers to life? Pupils might set up research to find out how Siddartha discovered the middle way and happiness. At KS3 you might… ask students what it means for someone to be enlightened or awakened. They could research the life of Siddartha Gautama and consider his authority in terms of overcoming suffering, compassion, leading the middle way. Students might ask questions about SG’s journey and how it led to enlightenment.
