2. The Mayor’s Fund is a pot of money to be spent on substantial projects to benefit the ward. Projects must meet one or more of the assembly priorities. The assembly decides which projects will receive this funding. £25,000 in 2010/11 and £18,750 in 2011/12 (total £43,750) What is the Mayor’s Fund?

At the last Brockley Assembly meeting on 16 September 2010 the Assembly agreed to adopt the following priorities for action: 1.More facilities & activities for children and young people 2.Safety and reducing crime and antisocial behaviour 3.Cleaning up dirty streets 4.Bringing the community together 5.Parks and green spaces Brockley Assembly priorities

The process: Option 1 Use a commissioning style process to spend the Mayor’s Fund: The process The assembly develops and agrees its action plan The assembly chooses projects from the action plan that they wish to fund from the Mayor’s Fund Officers and the coordinating group develop these projects into detailed proposals Local groups and organisations are invited to bid to deliver these projects Groups helped to get involved / apply Coordinating group sift applications from groups to check they meet criteria Groups present to assembly at a voting event and assembly chooses their favourite provider for each project Voting event open to anyone living, working or learning in Brockley ward The benefits Funded projects strongly meet the action plan developed by the assembly; The assembly is more involved in developing ideas and processes The drawbacks Availability of groups or organisations to be able deliver assembly chosen projects The process: options

The process: Option 2 Use a traditional style process to spend the Mayor’s Fund: The process The assembly develops and agrees its action plan Local groups and organisations are invited to apply for funding One application per group Applications must meet one or more of the five priorities, and deliver an action in the action plan. Groups helped to get involved / apply Coordinating group sift applications to check they meet the criteria Groups present to assembly at a voting event and assembly chooses their favourite projects Voting event open to anyone living, working or learning in Brockley ward The benefits Supports local groups with funding The drawbacks Assembly is less involved in identifying how the fund should be spent Projects may not meet assembly’s chosen actions as well as commissioning approach The process: options
